I’ll DPS where I want, thank you

I was doing Utgarde Keep (Normal) on my Death Knight with a Dungeon Finder group, and all was going well … until we got to the last boss.

As DPS, I quickly got stuck in and did my job. Then, I died. I was killed by Ingvar’s Smash ability. The fact I was standing between his legs (so that I was both behind and in front of him) probably didn’t help.

If I recall correctly, Aphoenix was the healer. But I was right. Out of all the times I’d fought Ingvar while standing in front of him (what a badass), that was my first death.

The Smash didn’t do all that much damage to me, so Aphoenix could have healed me. After all, the tank was doing a good job. His gear meant that he hardly needed any heals.

While telling me how to do my job, Aphoenix fails to do his own, and nearly causes a wipe. Who’s being the ‘idito’ now? … Nobody, because that’s not even a word (I think).

Scratch that actually. We did wipe. And all because he was trying to lecture me. Dumbass.

Funny how nobody else complained. As far as I care, if a group has good DPS, a good tank, and a good healer, they can stand where the fuck they like.

Getting butthurt about it proves nothing. I can only imagine what the reason for kicking me would have been. I’m guessing ‘he has a point, so get rid of him before he owns me with logic plz’.

But I had the last laugh. Despite where I was standing (and dying 30 seconds into the fight), I still managed this:

So fuck the lot of you.

  1. The only player in this with half a brain is that Hunter Pazhar. Sure the healer could have healed you but you completely lost your mind when you died. Pro-tip, DPS are expendable. As long as the tank is alive and the boss is getting beaten down the healer shouldn’t need to care too much about you. Especially when you get hit by a well broadcasted AoE. Then you carry on insulting him from death and distracting him from doing his job.
Mr Omgwtfhax YOU FAILED and then YOU caused others to fail, all because you can’t admit you cocked up.
    Bravo

    • ‘YOU FAILED and then YOU caused others to fail’ … Is it my fault the healer was too busy typing to notice people needed healing? He could have just let it go, but no. He felt the need to lecture me some more.

And had you read the article properly, you would have noticed that I did admit I was wrong.

“The fact I was standing between his legs (so that I was both behind and in front of him) probably didn’t help.”

  2. Cardinal sins of positioning aside … the healer should have been focusing on his job. Not haranguing the DPS about doing, or not doing their jobs.
If he wanted to chew people out, he should have waited until the group wiped, or won. And if that healer had been doing his job, it might have been won, and he might have had a leg to stand on.

    • Glad to see that someone agrees with me. As I said to Candrian, I admitted that I was in the wrong place, but I also said I’d stood there before without any problems.

And you’re right as well, Thorne. Your point is pretty much what I’ve been saying in this post.
