Sometimes, when I am tanking, I get someone (usually one of the DPS) constantly nagging at me to get a move on. I don’t know about the rest of you tanks, but it seriously pisses me off when people do this.
If you are familiar with wowcrendor on YouTube, you will know this kind of person as ‘The Go Guy’. I call them ‘Rushers’ – since they are trying to rush you into finishing the instance.
When I am tanking, I like to go at my own pace. I don’t want to pull more mobs than I can handle, as that could cause a wipe. I will pull two, maybe three packs and then once they are dead, move on to the next two or three packs.
Tanking, as you are no doubt aware, requires a great deal of concentration – and I could concentrate a little bit better if I didn’t have some twat saying ‘hurry up’ or ‘pull more mobs’ every ten seconds.
These people have to accept that not everyone plays the game the same way they do. Everyone likes to play at their own pace. Sure, some people may refer to me as a ‘slow tank’, but at least I’m a CAREFUL tank. I do my best to ensure the safety of my fellow party members, regardless of how stupid they may turn out to be.
At least think about it for a moment. You may have the best gear, but some people (like me) are casual players. Some of us may even be playing the game for the first time. That’s another benefit of going at my own pace. Anyone wanting to tank some day can (hopefully) learn from watching me do it. It’s how I learned to tank, anyway.
Anyway, I always try and explain to a Rusher that I like doing things at my own pace. The majority of them don’t like it when I say this, meaning everything will then fall to pieces. If they don’t like the pace of the group, they can risk a 30-minute debuff and leave to get a new one.
So, in closing – if you are one of these ‘Go Guys’, then please …
… shut the FUCK up and let me do my job MY way. NOT yours.
