You meet a lot of different people doing PUGs. This is a breakdown of all the different types I’ve met in my time doing random dungeons.
I’ll start off with the good ones.
SUPER HEALER – Without a competent healer, you’re going nowhere but the graveyard. Super Healer makes sure that doesn’t happen. They keep the heals coming thick and fast, often without making a dent in their mana pool.
PATIENT PETE – This person doesn’t mind waiting while you grab a quest, get your gear repaired, or while you stock up on food and drink in a city. They will also check if anyone needs a mana break and wait on them drinking up.
THE TACTICIAN – This person makes sure that everyone is clear on what needs to be done. They will gladly explain tactics for an encounter, and answer any questions people might have.
THE INNERVATOR – This is a Druid who uses Innervate on you, even if their own mana pool is low.
THE PASSER – This person passes on an item and lets you Need roll on it, even if they wanted it. They will simply say “I can get it next time I’m here.”.
These are the good people who make PUGs tolerable. However, there are other types of player who make PUGs unbearable…
THE GOD TANK – This person thinks that they can take on any challenge. And they will gladly pull an entire room of mobs just to prove that. These morons are usually responsible for most wipes.
THE HESITANT HEALER – This idiot will only start casting heals when you are nearly dead. By which time, it’s usually too late (unless you self heal).
NEEDY NELLIE – If the ‘Need’ option is there for them, they will use it. Never mind the fact they already own the item (or they have something better), or if someone else has a genuine need for the item being rolled on – they just want something to vendor or, in the case of some Needy Nellies, something to Disenchant.
IMBA IDIOTS – I believe I have already covered this topic.
PULLER PAUL – This is a DPS who pulls a pack of mobs, usually before the tank is even in striking distance. Hunters, in my experience, are the worst offenders, as they never use Misdirection on me before attacking. If you have a bad tank, this can lead to a wipe.
THE QUEUE JUMPER – This is someone who queued for a Tank or Healer spot, despite not being properly geared or talented to perform the task at hand. In my experience, Arms Warriors and Balance Druids are the worst offenders.
LANGUAGE BARRIER – This is when someone insults you in a language you don’t understand. I’ve been insulted in Dutch a lot. I like to think that people do this because they’re afraid to do it in English.
I think this pretty much covers everything. If I think of anything else, I’ll just make a new post. And I think this is the first post on IoW with positive comments.
